When I have that kind of money for camera equipment, I'll probably buy a decent automatic lens for my DSLR. (My good lenses are all manual.) Even the LX3 is probably more pricey than we're looking for. Most of our low-light/motion shots are kids in the house where the DSLR is hand, so the point+shoot can be cheap.

Re: Foliage Trip 2: Mount Morgan

GF1: http://www.dpreview.com/rev...
is the best sub-DSLR, but maybe it's still too cumbersome for a point n shoot.
In which case the LX3: http://www.dpreview.com/rev...
is probably the best small sensor camera.

If you're still determined to go for a tiny one or have a specific niche requirement, check out dpreview's group tests (premium compacts, enthusiast compacts etc.) here: http://www.dpreview.com/rev...

Re: Foliage Trip 2: Mount Morgan

Too true. I would have brought my DSLR if I knew how good the view was. The family point+shoot needs replacing. Any suggestions? I was looking at the Nikon s620: cheap and little shutter lag.

Re: Foliage Trip 2: Mount Morgan

you could do with a new camera.
